Joan McDonald

I am a clay artist primarily sculpture and hand-building- although I enjoy experimenting in different mediums. My work is characterized by my fascination with texture and intricate detail, was deeply influenced by my earlier background in marine biology. This influence often gives my pieces a biomorphic, organic quality, often suggesting a sense of movement. As a teaching artist, I aim to inspire others to experiment and embrace creativity through play, believing that both the artistic process and the narrative behind the work are equally important.
